ajle 038 Wild Graduation Portraits in South Jordan

With high school and college graduation ceremonies right around the corner, we get a lot of calls from worried parents and soon to be graduates about rushing to get their portraits done. We quickly reassure them, that if they come to Photoumbra Studios, they will not only get an amazing session with professional lighting and styling, but they won’t have to wait weeks and weeks to get their grad announcements or prints back. Our streamlined process of getting your portraits taken then having your finished products in your hands is usually done in 10-14 days and that is making a lot of procrastinators very happy!

Of course it makes us very happy that we get to work with so many amazing clients and I’d like to share some portraits from a couple of our recent sessions.

Anjila Jarvis contacted us about graduation portraits from the University of Utah. We don’t often get college graduates coming to us for portraits and announcements, so we were very excited to work with Anjila. With it being early spring, we didn’t have a lot of “lush” locations to choose from, so we opted to do some safari like portraits of Anjila and lets just say her leopard print jacket fit right in!

Some of our senior clients opt to have their sessions done in our nationally recognized studio. Our studio features 9 full sets and many more background options. We enjoyed working with Amanda from Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah for her senior portraits. Here are a few of our favorites from her session!

annuals 191 1024x549 Annuals of Wonderment: Creative Portraits with High School Senior
My first several years as a photographer were spent creating artistic imagery that I used for college photography assignments and fine art exhibitions. Getting back to those roots has been a goal of mine for quite some time, but in the bustle of owning a busy portrait studio, my fine art shoots kept getting put on the back burner. With a new year underway (2012), I decided to make time to shoot something for the pure enjoyment! I decided to create a series of artwork that I titled, “Annuals of Wonderment”. The first installment would be called “Puri di Luce”, which means Pure Light in Italian. (I speak Italian, thus the inspiration!)

The beautiful Katherine Ellis of American Fork High School kindly volunteered to be my model and the talented Mirinda Losee did her wonders on the makeup and hair. We put together this video of the shoot and you can see some of the final images below. I’d love to hear what you think, leave a comment below or post on our Facebook Page.

Facebook used to have an awesome “Reviews” feature which they have since removed (not sure why). In just the 30 days we had it installed on our Facebook page we got some great reviews from some of our High School Senior clients. We hated the idea of these kind words going the way of the digital grave, so we snapped some screenshots of them before the feature was removed site wide and thought we’d share them here!

We’d also like to add a big THANK YOU for all who took the time to give us a review. We really do LOVE you and we know we couldn’t be living our dream if it weren’t for you!

Screen shot 2011 11 02 at 9.49.52 AM Proud to be a part of the March of Dimes Signature Chefs AuctionWe are proud to be a part of the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction for the fourth year in a row. Each year, Photoumbra Studios has donated a portrait item for the silent auction and this year we are happy to be offering a $425 portrait package in hopes that it will raise some money to help give every baby a healthy start.

The successful event pays tribute to the culinary excellence of local chefs from our community, while raising significant revenue for the March of Dimes. Renowned local chefs will present their signature dishes in tasting-size portions during a cocktail reception. Live and silent auctions feature exciting items and packages put together by the chefs – including unique dining experiences, hotel stays and weekend getaways, and fun items from local businesses.

This evening is one not to forget or miss and hope that you can help participate! The event will be held on Saturday, November 5th at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center. You may click HERE for more information. We hope to see you at this wonderful event!

It’s that time of year again! YUP! Family, friends, food, shopping, parties, and we must not forget the SALES. Which means, it’s time again for Photoumbra Studios’ Annual Gift Certificate SALE where you get a $50 Gift Certificate for yourself for every $100 Gift Certificate you purchase for someone else! We only offer this sale once a year and I’ve had many clients comment on how much they love it, because not only are they giving a very nice gift to a friend, but they are able to get a little something back for themselves, so don’t pass up this chance! {ORDER YOURS HERE!}

Why would a Gift Certificate to Photoumbra would make a rockin gift? So many of the things we spend our money on is disposable or wear out in just a couple of months or years. Portraits capture that which is fleeting, your newborn’s wrinkly feet, your 1 year old’s first bite of cake, your 1st grader’s missing tooth, your high school senior in their football uniform. The quality portraiture that we create is timeless and produced with great care to ensure that those moments in time are beautifully preserved for a lifetime of enjoyment!

What can my friends get with their Gift Certificates to Photoumbra Studios? They can use it towards anything they would like. A portrait session, gift prints, wall portraits, our beautiful gallery canvas wraps, our popular designer cards, albums, jewelry, etc!

Here are some IDEAS of how your friends could spend their Certificates!
A $100 Gift Certificate would get them a full studio portrait session for a family or individual.

A $200 Gift Certificate could get them a portrait session and a mounted 11×14 wall portrait.

A $500 Gift Certificate would get them a portrait session, a 16×20 Gallery Wrapped Canvas, a set of 3 mini brag accordion albums, a charm necklace, and 2-3 8×10 or smaller gift prints, oh and you get a nice $250 Gift Certificate for yourself too!!!

A Deep Long Breath

June 4, 2010

Sorry no posts for the last couple of weeks. I have been super busy taking a bit of a break! icon smile A Deep Long Breath Seems like we have been shooting like mad since last summer and I’ve learned that if there is a break in the schedule to take full advantage of it. With next week marking the beginning of an extremely packed June, I feel ready to take it on and I’m really looking forward to all the awesome shoots we have coming up. This weekend we will also be announcing our Senior Portrait Summer Sessions SALE. We are hoping to get about 30-40 bookings from that to fill up the rest of our summer.

We are also considering a big move for the studio. We would like to move to a place where we could build a larger studio and have room to build some outdoor sets as well. Thinking of selling our current home/studio is heart wrenching since we have put so much blood, sweat, and tears into the building of this house. It will be hard to let it go but we do feel that making a move is the right decision so we are crossing our fingers that we can find something that will better suit the growing needs of Photoumbra.

Here’s to an awesome summer beginning!!!
