Headshots and Branding Photographer for Herriman, UT Author
When local author, Nicholas Adams reached out about a branding photography to update his website, it I was excited. Excited because this wasn't going to be a typical headshot or branding session, Nicholas had the idea of "See No Evil, Speak No Evil, Hear No Evil, and Write No Evil" as the theme of the shoot.
After Nicholas sent us his initial email inquiry, we set up a time to do a phone consultation. During this consult, we talked about his idea for the concept, what type of wardrobe he should bring, and of course, props! Luckily we had everything we needed for the themed shoot already at the studio due to our extensive collection of props (crap) we've collected over the years. I'm happy that my thrifting addiction could actually come in handy.
A few weeks after our planning consultation, Nicholas joined us at our photography studio in Herriman, Utah. We had the backgrounds and props all ready and we got to work. The lighting style we wanted to go with was a type of film noir look. This old Hollywood style of lighting was a little tricky to nail down at first because it is not a lighting style we typically use. However, we were able to capture the high-contrast, mysterious lighting, we wanted to create.
We started with the themed photos then ended with some fun headshots and portraits. Of course, we processed the images in Black and White, in keeping with Nicholas' website and color scheme.
It was an absolute pleasure working with Nicholas on this project. It was fun to dust off some old lighting modifiers that I don't normally use and create some dramatic black and white images in the studio. Thanks for the awesome review Nicholas and good luck on your new book release this Fall!
Nicholas left us a great 5-star review on google, saying, "I needed a photographer for new headshots in my efforts toward rebranding my author image. Monica was receptive to my vision and even supplied the desired props we discussed. She and her staff created the setting that matched my desired outcome. They were delightful, encouraging, and made me feel comfortable sitting in front of a camera (which is something I'm usually uncomfortable with). I would hire Photoumbra Studios again in a heartbeat."
